Rolls-Royce Sales Soar

Luxury brand Rolls-Royce managed to sell a record number of vehicles in 2021; a year that proved to be extremely difficult for most automakers. The luxury car manufacturer sold 5,586 cars globally, a considerable 49% increase over the previous year. It’s also the highest figure ever recorded in the brand’s 117 years of operation. Much of the growth in sales was a product of rising orders for the Ghost saloon. However, the Phantom also performed particularly well.

The company is also preparing for the future, too. Its first all-electric vehicle, the Spectre, will release in late 2023. It’s currently undergoing rigorous testing, which Rolls-Royce claims is equivalent to four centuries’ worth of ownership and 2.5-million kilometres of travel. In order to prepare for the electrification of its models, Rolls-Royce is investing heavily in its manufacturing sites. In addition, it’ll be taking on a new team of 37 apprentices in September.

‘Historic Year’

Torsten Müller-Ötvös, CEO of the firm, commented on the success of the brand in 2021. He said, “this has been a truly historic year for Rolls-Royce Motor Cars. In the past 12 months, we have recorded our highest-ever annual sales, launched the latest addition to our Black Badge family, stunned the world with our coach building capabilities and made huge strides into our all-electric future”.

He continued, “as always, it has been made possible by the dedication and commitment of the extraordinary people at the Home of Rolls-Royce, our international team and our global dealer network. I wish to extend my thanks and congratulations to each and every one of them: it is my privilege and pleasure to work alongside them every day”.
